a quilt for the new baby in the family

My cousin's wife recently had their first baby, a boy.   This is the quilt I made for them for the baby. I wanted to make something not girly obviously, but something that would work if they have another baby later and it's a girl.   I followed the directions on Moda Bake Shop called 'pinwheel baby quilt' .  I used a charm pack of Moda's ''animal alphabet'' and some white I had in my stash.  I also used a turquoise that was in my stash for the backing, but did end up buying the binding material. I used warm&white batting (also in my stash), and quilted by machine all over with an overlapping circles design, being very loose with the design just making sure it was quilted all over.  I LOVE how this turned out and I think I will definitely be making more!!!  I want to make a girly one and quilt it in some freeform flowers next :)  Hubby really likes this and wanted me to keep it for future grandkids.  I think I can make another one though!  I have 3 more animal alphabet charm packs :)

  1. So totally cute!!! and perfect for their 1st baby boy - or later on a girl.. ;) My grandmother only made 1 baby quilt for a couple to use no matter how many kids they had.

Now a quilter I understand why - more time to get her "list" completed! ;)

Thanks for sharing your tutorial link on the quiltvillechat group so I could find your blog.

    Love from Texas! ~bonnie
