Hunters star quilt pictures

I always wanted to retake the pictures for my Hunters star quilt since the lighting was so terrible with the first pic - I finally got around to it!  They still aren't the best, but for some reason - this quilt is hard to capture the colors!

I have decided to sell this quilt - it is available in my Etsy store now.

a sad tale

If you haven't seen my latest Moda Bake Shop quilt, here is a picture how it was for the project tutorial.

It's not your imagination that the background is slightly pink-hued.  It was late in the evening when I finished this quilt, and I couldn't bare to wait until the next day to take pics pre-washed, then wash it.  I HAD to wash it *right away*.  Well, it didn't even occur to me, that I should have pre-washed the lovely solid red backing.  I was nearly in tears when it came out of the wash.  It WAS a lot pinker than this even.   I should KNOW to prewash saturated solids.  Dumb dumb dumb!  I have BEEN here before!  Did I learn from this mistake?  You betcha!  Learned a LOT what *not* to do!  After it came out pinkish, I oxyclean soaked it, used all the color catchers I had, washed it many many times,  and it was 'good enough' to the point I took that picture.

I should have left well-enough alone.

The next day in the laundry isle, I found a 'dye run remover'.  I wish I had never seen that product!  Don't don't DON'T use it on your cottons.......  unless you want them 'bleached'.
It will suffice to say that the quilt, now, looks NOTHING like it did before washing it with the dye run remover.  It's still a great looking quilt (if you like the more fall-ish colors it is now), but it's just not the same.

It took me a while to get over it enough to take a picture even.  I'm over it now that the top from Seascapes is done.....

Aaaand, I have yet another top started from this lovely pile of strips.  All from my hoarded stash of FMF <3
I changed up the measurements on the width of the strips on this one though - I used a 1 1/2'' center strip, then the prints were 2 1/4'' - this way, I got one more strip in on each block.  I'll have a finished top to show SOON!  I have all the blocks cut out, just need to assemble them!
